What's happening now
From October 2012 to January 2013 we carried out a thorough public consultation over our plans which doctors and nurses believe are in the best interests of patients.
We explained our proposals at every opportunity and listened to what other people have to say about them. The final recommendations to the NHS Berkshire Board reflected the feedback we received from the hundreds of people who took part in our consultation events and who took the time to complete a feedback questionnaire.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the consultation process. We heard a wide range of views and we want to reassure people that all were taken into account.
All consultation feedback was independently analysed in a report going to the NHS Berkshire PCT Cluster Board which will made final decisions at its meeting in public on 26 March based on recommendations in a Decision Making Business Case. The Board approved the recommendations with conditions.
The Board also took advice from the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) which, from 1 April 2013, are responsible for leading commissioning in east Berkshire and implementing the changes which we aim to introduce by April 2015 - as set out in this chart.
